Mario + Tom | Same Sex Engagement Session

About a month ago I met Mario and Tom over the phone to talk about  shooting their wedding in June. At the time they were only looking for wedding photos but weren't sure if they wanted to do an engagement session yet. They had lots of questions for me (which is a good sign for me!). They wanted to know about my style, asked about my approach, asked if I would do detail shots etc. You could tell they had done their research about hiring a photographer to capture their wedding day! Like I said, this is a good sign to me! Especially when the couple isn't a referral and isn't super familiar with my work or even just photography in general. It shows me that they are invested in my service! They care about their wedding photos and want to make sure they pick the right person. I love that! It shows that they are not only invested in the photos but in turn they're invested in me as well!Along those same lines, don't be afraid to ask me questions! Most people have never worked with or hired a photographer before! It's most people's first time planning a wedding. So don't be afraid to ask questions even if you think it's a "dumb question" it probably isn't! I'm happy to answer any and all questions you have about my services!

Anyway, so I talked to Mario and Tom for quite a while and they decided that even though their wedding was only a little over 2 months away, they wanted to see if we could schedule an engagement session! They told me that they love gardening and wondered if the Chicago Botanic Gardens would be a cool place to shoot. As someone who grew up going to the CBG, I looooove any excuse to go visit! It's just so dang gorgeous! Especially this time of year! (though when we had first talked we weren't even really out of winter yet! We still had 2 more snows after talking, so we weren't sure how much would be in bloom when we first talked)

The day we chose ended up being an absolutely stunning day outside! It was about 75 degrees out, the sun was out and there was a nice breeze. The garden's are so big, so many different spots to pick from! I didn't know where I wanted to start!

We decided since we were so close to the lake we should probably take advantage of it! The water was gorgeous and soooo blue!

After we were done they insisted that they take me out to lunch! So sweet! We went to a cute little café in downtown Glencoe and talked about their big day, heard a bit about their hopes and plans for their wedding photos. It's such a blessing to have clients that are invested in the process and want to make sure that everything runs smoothly! I can't wait for their wedding in just under a month!
